Three former CBA Showcase travel team players were selected in last weekend's Major League baseball draft. Selected in the ninth round by the Detroit Tigers was catcher John Murrian, who played three seasons on the CBA teams and was attending Winthrop University. First baseman Chris McGuiness, who plays at The Citadel and played two seasons for PLS, was selected in the 13th round by the Boston Red Sox. Left-handed pitcher Matt Crim was a 20th round selection by the Atlanta Braves. Crim, who was a four-year pitcher at The Citadel, has worked with CBA owner and pitching instructor Stan Kowalski since he was 12 years old. Crim has assisted with several camps and clinics over the years and played three years with the CBA summer travel teams.
